Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-09 (revised same day to disclose Sentry crash reporting)

This Privacy Policy describes how Gamexercise ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. We built Gamexercise to be a privacy-respecting fitness RPG: your data stays on your device. We do not run servers that store your information, and we do not share your data with third parties.

Plain-English summary: Your step count and game progress are stored only on your iPhone. We do not run analytics, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party tracking SDKs. The single exception is Sentry, a crash-reporting service that receives technical diagnostic data (the error message + stack trace + your device model + OS version) ONLY when the app crashes or hits an unhandled exception. Sentry receives no step data, no game save contents, and no identifier that we could use to find you.

1. Information we access

Step count (via Apple HealthKit)

Gamexercise reads your daily step count from Apple HealthKit to power in-game progression — gold earned, character levels, daily quests, outfit unlocks. The first time you tap "Tap to Start" and complete the tutorial, iOS will ask for your permission to share step data with the app. You can decline, change your mind later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Gamexercise, or play the game without HealthKit (your in-game progression simply won't accumulate from real walking).

Step data stays on your device. The app reads it in-process, applies it to the local game state, and discards the raw value. We never transmit step data to any server, third party, or analytics service.

Local game state

Game state — your character, gold, level, owned outfits, quest progress, settings — is written to a single save file in the app's private storage on your device (Application.persistentDataPath). It is not synced to iCloud, not backed up to our servers (we have none), and is not accessible to other apps.

Crash + error diagnostics (Sentry)

When the app crashes or hits an unhandled exception, Gamexercise sends a diagnostic report to Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service. The report contains:

The report does not contain:

We use this data solely to fix bugs. Sentry retains crash reports for 90 days then deletes them. Their privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy.

2. Information we do not collect

3. How we use the information we access

Step data and local game state are used solely to:

4. Data sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, license, or otherwise transfer your data to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.

The single processor we use is Sentry, who acts on our behalf strictly to store the crash diagnostics described in Section 1. Sentry does not use the data for their own marketing, does not share it with third parties, and is bound by their own published privacy policy.

If we add features in a future version that involve transmitting other data — for example, Apple Game Center leaderboards (where leaderboard scores are sent to Apple's Game Center servers, not ours) — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the relevant data flows will be disclosed here and in the App Store privacy nutrition card.

5. Your choices

6. Children's privacy

Gamexercise is rated for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not have account creation or user-generated content. If you are under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) and have any concerns, please contact us.

7. Security

Because Gamexercise does not transmit your data, there is no in-flight encryption to maintain on our end. The local save file is stored inside the app's sandbox, which iOS isolates from other apps. iOS's standard device protection (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID) applies.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy if Gamexercise's data practices change — for example, if a future version adds a new SDK, transmits data to a server, or enables Game Center / iCloud sync. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will be updated, and material changes will be surfaced in the app's release notes on the App Store.
